A cavalry officer's sword with presentation inscription to The Earl of Rothes, silver gilt embossed hilt with two portraits and silver gilt scabbard. London 1812, the scabbard inscribed H. Gill and Co. Princes Street, London, together with original case and crossbelts.
Inscription reads:"Presented by the QUARTER MASTERS, non-commisioned OFFICERS & PRIVATES of the REGIMENT of Surry YEOMEN CAVALRY & RIFLEMEN as a token of the great Esteem & regard they entertain for their COLONEL, the Right Hon.ble, the EARL OF ROTHES, as an OFFICER & a NOBLEMAN."
